Hillsboro

one of my favorite

Howdy neighbor

What a beautiful street

Before photoblog, I was addicted to looking at houses on the internet and going to new subdivisions just to see what was new.

You can find at least 80 or more new communities around the Birmingham area.

But Hillsboro remains my favorite. These aren't the biggest or most expensive but there is something about them that intrigues me.

They have so much character and craftsmanship. I'm in love with the way all the houses have front porches in the top and bottom level.

No one ever sits out on the FRONT porch anymore. (Remember those days).

Hopefully those days are coming back.

Queen911 You managed to capture the designs of the home. Look how close they are. Are they cookie cutter homes?

focussed I can see why you love these houses. They are beautiful. The only problem with new developments is the lack of trees and landscaping. But I'm sure this will all be rectified within a few years. Are these your dream houses?
No 3 looking through the porches is a great shot :)

lexlevans oh i love the house in #1!! i'm a huge fan of those porches too - and those cool gable windows on top. i love the colors too, and those cute little shutters! i'm glad to hear that someone else loves to look at houses too - i love all the different types of architecture in chicago. i started off studying architecture in college but i realized i liked drawing them and photographing them more than building them :-)

abbeyh13 Oh my gosh!!!
We just moved and my REQUIREMENT was that our house had a front porch!! no kidding!!
My husband and I sit for a while almost EVERY night on the front porch!! I LOVE them!!!
these homes are so beautiful.

oldbabe I love these too, except there are too many of them the same.

The columns on the front porches remind me of something you would see in the south. I wonder what kind of rooms are in those 3 separate areas on top and I love the porch on the second floor. They remind me of the porches on my in-law's house in St. Louis. Used to be before the days of air-conditioning they would sleep out on those porches.

I do remember the days of porch sitting. I don't have a front porch now, but in the summer I love to sit out on the deck in back at night and watch for shooting stars (or UFOs)!!

I like the shot of the porches all the way down.
