The first entry to Red Square from the Metropole Hotel side is through the archway behind me.
On the left is the Kazan Cathedral, demolished in the '30's to allow greater access to Red Square, now rebuilt
A bit further down on the left is Gum, a shopping arcade full of upmarket global brand stores - Prada, etc!
Down the other (right) side of Red Square is the Kremlin Wall.
And at the end of the square, the amazing St Basil's, built in the 16th Century to celebrate victory over the Tartars.
... and again, next morning.
... again ...
... and yet again: can't help it!
Fearsome babushkas 'take care' of almost everything in Moscow.
The back-end of St Basil's and the corner of the Kremlin wall.
This chuch is in Varvaska Street, just off the square. I'm besotted with these 'onion' domes: we'll be seeing a lot of them!

Great colours, amazing patterns. Some of those people look very Russian, but I guess there are some tourists there (like you, for instance).

Glad to see you in the first shot Barry! :) but wowsers, this entire set is spectacular. Again youve done well to capture the grandeur of what appears to be a totally overwhelming place!. Last shot is my fav....fabulous contrasting colors..and rather unique color choices for a church! FYI - our little babushka dolls at work are such a big hit with the kids! There are always arguments over whose turn it is to play with them. ive never seen a "real" babushka though! I love th stockings..hehe So tell me, ...having already seen so much, do you have anymore travel plans and where is your next dream destination?
