Not Art?

This last weekend was the Plaza Art Fair here in Kansas City on the Plaza. The Plaza is a very exclusive shopping area and resturants. The stores are out of our price range but there are a couple of resturants that we can afford to eat at.
Now here is the comment that a friend made and others agreed with after going to the art fair. They didn't feel photographs were art. I was like why not? With technology taking great pictures didn't take much talent, not like painting a landscape. They also thought photos could be art but not the ones at a booth on the street at an art fair.
I see there point but what do you all think?
