Nanny's 80th Birthday

2008.09.06
To celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday, my mom and her sisters threw a surprise party in Valley Forge, PA. Nanny was expecting about 15 aunt, uncles and cousins, and arrived to find 60 friends and relatives. This photo is one of the beautiful centerpieces, and the photo used for the invitations - my grandmother (on the left) and her sister in the 1930s.

That's Nanny in the middle with her nephew, her soon-to-be-granddaughter-in-law, a grandson, and a daughter-in-law (left to right).

The Miller Family: Michael (2nd from the left) is mom's 1st cousin. His kids Sara (far left) and Daniel (white shirt) are my 2nd cousins. Casey (right) is Daniel's wife, and I got to meet the newest addition to the family, their daughter Ella, for the first time!

My cousins and I rocked those decorations!

Delicious!!

My brother couldn't make it from LA, but true to form, he sent Nanny an awesome video message using footage from the DNC. This is Nan (closest to the 'screen') watching it.

And this is a group of relatives reacting to the video

The MIller Family:

Casey and her nephews (Alex and Debbie's kids), Josh (on her lap) and Sam.

I can't stand balloons popping, but my aunts, uncles and cousins had a blast (haha!) popping EIGHTY balloons

Mom, Maggie and Aunt Jane hanging out at Nan and Pop's on Friday night

We had just as many leftovers as food that was eaten, so dinner on Saturday night (in this photo) and breakfast the next morning was leftovers, leftovers and more leftovers. At the hotel on Sunday morning, we saw a friend who's known my family since '63 - mom told him how much leftovers we had, and he said 'glad to hear things haven't changed' :)
