Fenway

2008.10.25
I spent a wonderful day at several of my favorite institutions in the Fenway neighborhood. After a visit to the Gardner Museum to see my fellow volunteers and get an update on the expansion project, I refueled at the MFA cafe - this is a view out the window (note the light fixture reflections in the glass) of the Calderwood Courtyard.

Construction on the MFA's new wing is well underway

same construction, from the outside - it's really starting to look like an actual building!

I walked from there to the Fenway Studios on Ipswich Street, and passed the Forsyth Institute, which does stuff

Always liked this door (to the Forsyth Inst), never snapped a shot of it

A lovely church on Boylston I had never seen before

My visit to the Fenway Studios (which has Open Studios all this weekend) was fascinating, enlightening, inspiring and downright pleasant! By the way, this building, which I was unaware of until about a month ago, is the only artists' studio building to earn the National Historic Landmark designation, which it's had now for 10 years.
