Cupcakes, Candles and Earth Hour
2009.03.28
Today, my friends, roommates, boyfriend and I went on tour of Boston's greatest cupcakes, then ate a delicious candle-lit meal, then turned off all of our electricity in honor of Earth Hour, and counteracted all of our good work by driving all over the city to see our sparkling landmarks in the dark.

First stop: Sugar in West Roxbury. Six of the biggest, most varied and incredibly delicious cupcakes this world has to offer. That's mine on the far right - oreo cookie :)

We had cheese ravioli with a well-seasoned roasted garlic tomato sauce, spinach and meatballs, with red wine, bread, cheese and beautiful candles.

This is the Prudential Tower (through Brian's sunroof) with nearly all of its lights off as one of many of Boston's most noticeable signs of participation in Earth Hour 2009, when everyone was supposed to turn off their lights for an hour in support of energy efficiency. I'm all about smarter ways to keep pretty buildings well lit at night, but I gotta admit, I'm more excited about this as a world-wide photography project. Check this out: http://www.earthhourus.org/

Not easy to photograph a darker-than-usual city while in a moving vehicle, but this is the Hancock Tower (and the streak of a street light) - another of Boston's most recognizable buildings in the skyline. Not completely dark, but MUCH darker than usual.

Did I mention we were moving? Driving past Copley Square, you can see the Hancock Tower, and Trinity Church (on the left). I wish I could have gotten a decent shot of Kenmore Square's bright giant flashing Citgo sign, dark as night.
