Around 17:30 we heard the noise of broken glass, looked out of the window, and saw that in the dealership next door a customer tried to drive out with her newly purchased vehicle. The only problem was that the sliding glass door apparently hadn't been fully opened yet.
I have no idea what happened exactly, perhaps the car was in gear when she turned the ignition key, or maybe it was an automatic and she did not know how to drive it, or simply she mixed up the pedals a bit. Anyway, the frame was bent, the glass was shattered, and the car had a bit of a damage as well. Fortunately nobody was hurt, apart from the total embarrassment of the driver.
The glass crew shortly arrived, removed the remaining shards of glass from the frame, filling a dozen buckets with it. Then they tried to fix the frame, but it was bent too much. Another crew arrived, together they managed to close the door. When I last checked at midnight, they were still working, installing some temporary glass panel into the door.
The girl who drove through the door decided to leave the car at the dealership, and was picked up by a friend. I guess it was a wise decision from her not to drive that evening, probably it would be even wiser not to drive ever again.
