„Street” – Invitation of the Star Hostel - the avant-garde street paper - for artists
Start Hostel, the avant-garde street paper will be 2 years old in October, 2008. We want to celebrate its birthday with a monumental program - exhibition, literary evening and concert – in the Hole Club (Gödör). On this occasion we invite every artist – who agrees with the philosophy of the paper and of the publishing company, the Oltalom Charity Society.
The Hole Club provides an ideal location, an 800 m2 garage at the Erzsébet square, one of the busiest point in Budapest, a perfect place for the man in the street to meet contemporary fine arts.
We expect all kinds of works of art regardless of genre and technique which was inspired by the street, highly responsive to interactions and signs of the street. We expect that these works will illustrate familiar themes from the point of view of people living on the streets.
If you wish to participate, a short description of the finished works or creations should be sent in digital form at the utcaprojekt@gmail.com.
Deadline: October 10, 2008.
Please attach to you application a CV and 5-6 pictures of earlier works. The requests will be judged by a curator team invited by the editorial office of the Star Hostel.
The November issue of Star Hostel will present the exhibited works.

Star Hostel is an, avant-garde street paper published by the Oltalom Charity Society, started in October 2006. Selling the paper not only provides work for the homeless people but also gives an opportunity for communication. The distributors of the paper – the „occupants” of the Star Hostel – offer real values to the reader and have an opportunity to be accepted. The other important goal of the paper is to present and engage contemporary writers; to discover new talents and offer a quality reading matter to the people on the street.
