There are several of these towers on the Kingston waterfront. They were built to repel Americans whenever they got uppity and wandered North. This one is on the waterfront near Queens University and overlooks Wolf Island
There is a cannon inside the top which rotates to cover any direction.
In the summer they are open as museums.
