Ok, here's the story. This is a section of vertebrae of a "sea-monster"
Several years ago a badly decomposed body of something large and unidentifiable washed ashore on an Island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
According to my brother (who recovered this vertebrae) it appeared to resemble a plesiosaur.
I'm guessing it's from the remains of a basking shark, but I never saw the body. All that remains are a few bad photos and some vertebrae
So, any ichthyologists out there? What is it?

I have not clue what it is. But never-the-less, these are great shots for the simple fact that these are not things you might see in a lifetime. Also I'm more with you about it being some kinda fish rather than a plesiosaur. At least the vertebrae does look like it belongs to a fish of some sort.
