Take A Walk With Us, October 16, 2011

Walking up toward the front of the Colorado Springs Broadmoor Hotel. This is a very swanky place...we just had to take a peek with cameras at the ready.

The Broadmoor has over 700 rooms, 18 restaurants and cafes, 3 golf courses, and a world-class spa. The El Pomar Carriage House Museum houses an extensive collection of vintage carriages and automobiles on-site. The Penrose Room, named after Spencer Penrose (the hotel's creator in 1917), is the only Five-Diamond dining in Colorado.

BTW, Spencer Penrose amassed his fortune from gold mining claims at Cripple Creek, subject of yesterday's blog.

Flowers, manicured lawns and well trimmed trees are everywhere.

At the rear of the main hotel is the lovely Broadmoor Lake.

The hotel consists of numerous buildings for guests. The main hotel sits on the east side of the lake, this building sits on the west side of the lake.

Later in the afternoon we met Aunt Jane for dinner at the old Colorado Springs railway station and were treated to a wonderful dinner.

Sunday, Oct. 16th, 2011.

This is our third day in Colorado Springs and the third day we've had nigh onto perfect weather.

The only things on our agenda today is to take a walk around the renown Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs and meet Aunt Jane for dinner at 4pm.

Tomorrow, Monday, we'll pack up the car again and resume our trip west enroute toward home. We're still aiming at arriving home around the 25th of October.
