I don't know. I'm not a real fan of the orton effect. I really like tack sharp shots. Nothing personal, your shot is lovely, both versions. But I opt for #1. The crisp sharp detail that makes #1 so vibrant gets totally diluted in #2.

I agree with dkelly about it being fairytale-ish. I think I like it better than the original. It was a hard decision because snow on trees is one of my favorite things and it loses that a little in #2. But I almost expect to see some hobbits or Legolas(!) coming around the bend of the creek and that middle-earthiness more than makes up for it. :)

Its a tough choice but I like both. The first one is precisely and beautifully composed. The subject matter works very well with black and white. The second one I find wonderfully surreal. Great bit of work.

I love both, both inspire different reactions, the first is sharp distinct, and you take notice thinking, wow good picture (and also i wish i saw snow like that). The second, is calm and relaxing - and after a busy morning, could send me into a happy relaxed slumber with that image in mind. :) Great work, well deserving of front page.
