We drove around and found the 17th Street Diner which had really good homemade type food. We all tried something different, Sean had the roast beef, Mark had the fish and I had the fried chicken.

Sign on the road for Mount Sunflower - 11 miles north and 1 mile west. It looks like it's going to be in the middle of a bunch of wheat fields!

When we came down the road we didn't see the summit and ended up in someone's farm (that is where the road came to a dead end) so when we turned around, Sean spotted a stick sticking up in the air and finally found it. We noticed as we were leaving that the sign had been taken.

We drove to where we had to turn to go to the Sand Creek Massacre Site and noticed that it was open until 4:00. Well, it was just about 4:00 but went ahead and went anyway hoping that in the summer it might be open later.

When we got back it was storming big time. We ate at pizza hut and had to take Sean home since he had to get up early in the morning and go to work. There is a rainbow over the hotel we were staying at (Comfort Inn).

We decided to do a trip to places in western Kansas and eastern Colorado today. We went to Goodland to eat lunch and then to Wallace, Kansas to see the history of Fort Wallace. After we were finished there, we went to the highest point in Kansas, Mount Sunflower. Getting late, we rushed to see the place where many Native American men, women and children were massacred, Sand Creek in Colorado.
