Marin Headlands and Muir Woods

2008.04.14
On Monday we rented a car to head north out of San Francisco. On the way out we passed this great beach with a nice view of the bridge, so we stopped for a few more pictures.

GG Bridge from the other side.

A little bit of a hazy day.

Lauren with the bridge and the city (through the morning haze) as her backdrop.

Yet one more vantage point.

Nice little out of the way spot called Muir Beach. There were rocks arranged for fire pits all over the place, so I imagine that in the evenings this place is full of hippies playing the ukelele.

My first rock stack.

Sunlight tries its best to peek through the redwood trees in Muir Woods.

A fallen tree.

Big tree.

Bigger tree.

Lauren and a stream.

Dunno why, just like this one.

This is called Pinchot Tree. I can only imagine it's named for Bronson Pinchot, better known as Balki Bartokomous from Perfect Strangers.

I'm a bear.

On the way back into town, it was much clearer.

These guys are on top of one of the towers with 30 mph winds. Check out for the next picture for a better sense of the scale.

Click on the picture to blow it up, and you'll see they look like ants.

The Presidio and Lincoln Park across the bridge.

The other side of the Rock.

Coif Tower atop Telegraph Hill.
