Standing out (theme) by girafferacing

I struggled to find something to fit today’s standing out theme in the limited free time I had this morning and ended up using my usual fall back of Chichester Cathedral. It’s a building that dominates the skyline of Chichester and certainly stands out from the other building around it. I found this view on the south eastern side of the building and liked the way the various spires reached towards the sky in parallel, especially against the perfect blue sky beyond (no need for my polarising filter today!). I had to do a little work to straighten the spires before posting this shot as, taken from almost directly below, they looked like they were leaning in towards each other. I wonder if I’ll ever run out of things to photograph around this wonderful building?!

Believe it or not, this is a post office. While my family was here, my mom's boyfriend wanted to mail a postcard to his kids. My sister and I needed to use the bathroom, so they directed us up a mysterious stairwell. When we got to the top, this is what we saw. We actually didn't think we were in the post office anymore until we looked down below and saw aisle after aisle of people sorting mail. Shoulda gotten a shot of that, too. If you recognize the title, by the way, then you're my all-time fave person everrr!

I had an unexpected half hour off during my teaching this morning so I made the most of the opportunity and went for a quick stroll with my camera in search of today’s photo. As I walked around Chichester Cathedral I noticed these two neighbouring windows on the outside of the Lady Chapel and thought they might make a good black and white image. I like the way these windows superficially have a similar shape, albeit with a different width. On closer inspection though the internal structure it different but I think they complement each other very effectively.

Last week i went to St. Andrews with my friend, one intention only take advantage of the last sunny days and take some photographs of St. Andrews Abbey. The trip worked out to be great fun and resulted in many snapshots which ive been very happy with. the sky was absolutely perfect. in the sun it was very warm, even though the wind was very cold already. i hope you enjoy.
