Here we go again I hear you say..hahaha...Yes I know Im hard on myself. But thats just how I am and it pushes me to better myself :P Obviously I don't hate these shots or I wouldn't be posting them. But I was totally un-prepared for the change in weather conditions and this meant I had to rush my way through what was truly a stunning location (picture me attempting to shelter feebly from the rain, under a range of dripping trees, camera wrapped in my jacket and shivering from the cold!) I just know I could have done a lot more had the conditions been more favorable and had I been able to take a little more time and care with each photo. I guess sometimes we just dont have that luxury and we do the best we can with what we are given.

These were taken while wandering around a private garden which opens its gates to visitors all year round. Im not usually one for garden photography, so if its not your cup of tea either I totally understand, but I just couldn't help myself because this set is just all about the colors.

Powered by Photoblog.com

The first snow of the season at Mount Hotham - day five of our road trip by Peche

But, we got wind of snow on the grapevine in Bright, and headed straight for Harrietville, via a pretty drive through Wandiligong.

Once we passed through Harrietville (not really time to stop, nor the motive with so much rain), we headed straight up to Mount Hotham full of excitement and anticipation...

I hadn't seen snow since I was 16 and on exchange in Freiburg, Germany... and surely enough, as we neared the peak of Hotham, snow began to fall very lightly, and was already covering everything...

At the top, it was fresh and light, and made for perfect snowballs... it would have been almost 10 inches tall... and it was about two degrees below as well - gosh I love the crisp cold air - I love the way it makes my face cool and pink-cheeked :D Makes you feel so alive!

By the time we got back down from the mountain, it was near sunset, and I spied a kookaburra perched in the tree just next to our campsite - it was a quick snap so quality is lacking, but I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to snap it!

No campfires that night... rain was pouring, cloud rolled in, and it was below zero temps again.... brrrrrr!

Powered by Photoblog.com

We only had an hour to pitch the tent before the sun set for the day, so once it was up I had time for a few quick pictures and a bit of a wander about the campsite...

Honestly, the drive up there really surprised me - I was 14 and a schoolgirl on year 9 camp when I was last in this region of Victoria, and I'd not remembered how beautiful it was...

Powered by Photoblog.com
