I am completely amazed that it is July already, and half of my summer vacation is OVER!! Also amazed that we all have been doing this 365 project for half the year now!! Kudos to us all! My aunts, Cash, and I took the downtown walk by the river and I saw these baseball sculptures. I thought they were a great subject for a summer photo! We went to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY on Sunday, my first visit since 1967. The title phrase comes from the Susan Sarandon's character Annie Savoy in the wonderful movie about minor league baseball (and sex) Bull Durham.

We went to Babe Ruth League baseball game this afternoon. It was a lot of fun. The weather was perfect and the game was enjoyable. Plus, "our team" won.

Today is my oldest son's due date! LOLOL Bugger wasn't born until July 6th. This is a pic of him at his last game. He'll be 20 and a Junior in college this year. I'm quite thrilled because normally he goes to school in California (two States away) and this year he'll be in our home State and just a couple hours away. It will make getting to his baseball games much easier. My son's name is Antone. He comes by many names. Big-A, Joy Boy, Tone-tone, Tone-man..... A-Train is his newest name given to him by MHJPhotos.

My oldest son pitched for his old team on Saturday so I was able to get some baseball shots in. However, his team wasn't hitting and it took almost to the end of the game to get a hit. I have a lot of photos of swings and misses which isn't really what I'm after. ;) I did selective coloring with this one because the background at this field is one of the worst I've seen.

Today was the day that we took off work to go to an Oakland A's baseball game. As you can see by the picture, we were on the bus with drinks already open by 10:10am. Thanks to our lovely admins, they'd stocked the bus with a large variety of beverages, including my favorite beer, Guinness. The bus ride to the stadium was a two-drink trip (same with the ride back), and most people had several drinks at the game, along with the bbq lunch that was provided. The game itself stunk, but the day was beautiful. Most of us got sunburned, but hey....we got paid to sit outside during the work day at a baseball game, enjoying a beverage or two. Rough life, yes.

With my March knee surgery, and the subsequent time on crutches/limited mobility, I hadn't yet had the opportunity to take in a baseball game. Even though we're going for work this coming Thursday, I was able to get to an A's/Red Sox game tonight. We share in a group of season tickets, and I have to say, I'm spoiled by the location of our seats. We're in the 10th row, looking directly down the third base line. We also sit next to the walkway that the visiting players use, so I'm able to heckle any player that annoys me. Heh. Here is Frank Thomas, up to bat for the first time this evening.

One of our mottos at my company (however unofficial it may be) is that we "work hard, play hard". With the change of seasons from spring to summer, we tend to want to "play hard" more often. So, our fabulous admins have decided that we will be taking in an Oakland Athletics baseball game on May 29. Tickets were distributed today, hence the photo. We'll be taking a bus from work (loaded with....beverages...) mid-morning, arriving at the stadium in time for a barbecue lunch inside the park in the "BBQ Terrace" in right field. I definitely will not complain - the A's happen to be my favorite team, too.

My husband has been playing in the Fred Horn Baseball League for the last 18 summers of his life. Every weekend of every summer and let me tell you.....these guys mean serious business! LOL :) The Russell Cardinals have won the last 3 championships.....5 of the last 6.........and 7 overall since 1990. Dewayne is the starting first basemen and team captain but this game he didn't play and coached instead because Milt was out of town. So yes I'll be posting many baseball photos this summer! :)

One of the best things about being back in Texas is not missing out on family affairs! Tonight, I went and watched my nephew's baseball game. Luke's team, the Rangers, took on the Yankees, and they almost had the game won... if only the Yankees hadn't tied it up with only one out left in the last inning! The Rangers did great though! I am so proud of you, Luke!
