But for some reason, this little bee was busy enjoying the flowers on my catnip plant, and I found him fascinating. He was utterly oblivious to my camera lens a mere few inches away, and paid absolutely no attention to me. Maybe that's what made him fascinating, it was a nice change from being dinner for every insect within a 50 mile radius! ;)

Powered by Photoblog.com

The kittens will go with me to the vet's office for the day for their first set of vaccinations and a checkup. Hopefully, the vet will give the ok to do their FeLV/FIV tests, so I can start to merge the feline household. It's getting harder and harder to keep them confined to the bathroom.

I don't know what the hell I'll do if they're positive. I'm incredibly attached to the little guys. They've become lap cats, and purr and purr and purr every time I go into "their room." They always want to be on my lap, and to put it delicately, there are times when you're in the bathroom sitting down that you do not want a cat on your lap. ;)

Poor simple Fergus can't figure out how to jump onto my lap, though. If I sit on the edge of the tub, he'll jump onto the toilet, then to my lap, but he hasn't realized (thankfully!) that to go straight from the floor to my lap, he needs to use his claws a little.

Pippin has no reservations about using the claws get where he wants to go. He'll try to jump on my lap when I'm standing! He's climbed as far as my waist, sometimes while I'm performing delicate tasks like putting in my contacts. Little stinker!

So say a prayer, send vibes, or cross your fingers that they're clean and healthy little critters, please. :)

Powered by Photoblog.com

Amazingly, I only got stung once, but it wasn't by a bee. Bees are actually fairly focussed and not very aggressive, unless they absolutely must be. When a honey bee does sting you, it ejects nearly it's entire abdomen--the stinger and some other stuff that keeps pumping more...er...stuff...into you. Then they go die. So, it's really in their best interest NOT to sting anything. While out taking photos of them, I just minded their space and didn't get in their way. The stupid bug that did sting me, ran into me while I was just standing there, stung me, and flew away. Jerk.

Powered by Photoblog.com

In 1980, I read about the quilters from Gee's Bend. I was amazed that Big Business would take advavantage of small town women.
~ Thursday, March 20th we drove 4.5 hours to visit. My cellphone could not pick up signals, therefore I couldn't call my daughter to let her know we had arrived.
Allison called to the community center, then a gift shop in Camden looking for us. I called the Quilters home, explained who I was and asked if there was time for me to visit the community center. She asked if I had children with me, I thought now I can't visit, little did I know she was holding the store open until I was able to complete my trip. All because of my daughter.
~ They normally close at 3PM, I didn't arrive until 5:20PM and stayed for an hour.~.

THIS is where we can start teaching Shanna about 'the birds & the bees' :}...in a few years,) crisp yellow color (as well as red & orange,) and great accent to bare board fences.

Most of the vines in my yard have been around for at least five years giving my family the joy of "eye candy" just about anywhere we look! Isn't God good? :)

Powered by Photoblog.com

After one day with the neck strap that came with the camera I bought an Optech 'weight reduction' strap and having spent all afternoon in the park today I'm glad I did. I also find the supplied eyecup to be near useless and have ordered something a bit more practical.
