These medical words just flow off my tongue since I am a physician. Essentially this word contains bone, cartilage and growth. OK. Above is a copy of Jenna's left knee xray. If you look towards the left of the picture, you will see a hook in the lighter colored material at 11:00. That is a hook of bone from Jenna's growth plate that got lost and continued to grow. It is actually covered in cartilage that we can't see on the xray, but certainly can feel. I told Jenna perhaps we could use the hook to hang up her coat, or maybe floss our teeth. Sorry Jenna.
Below: in the orthodedist's exam room, Jenna was pointing out where her osteochondroma is. Although painful because the muscles rub over the growth, it is not cancerous and often is left alone. Because it cause her such pain, it looks like it will have to come out. SHAVED OFF, no less. Although Jenna is nervous about surgery, she is looking forward to being able to run, sit and exercise without pain again. |
Here, innocently sitting on the countertop, is the selection of fiberglass colors available if you needed a cast. Jenna will not need a cast, and she will also NOT need crutches!

I just had to include this shot. While sitting in the waiting room, Jenna noticed that the mountain scene shown here was actually a reflection from outside the office. It is superimposed on top of a barely visibly mounted Avalanche jersey like the logo seen in the top photo. Jenna was amazed at the natural beauty just right out the door, er, window.....
