A Paris Street Market, More Flowers and Sam's B-Day Dinner

2012.05.05

The Paris Street Market is an antique flea market held the first Saturday of the month, May-Oct, so today was the first of the season. Sam had to work, so I headed out on my own. You never know what you'll find, and there is always something fun to see, regardless of whether you buy anything. This is the first time I ever took my camera with me, and I had fun taking pics of things I liked, but didn't/wouldn't buy. First stop, these interesting letters from wherever. I decided if I got any, they would go in my outdoor sculpture garden, as they were too big for anywhere indoors. But they wanted too much $$$ so forget it!!!!

Below: Lo and behold, the Baby!!! In the exact same pose. Oh, there was more to this story. When I got home I googled this photo to find out my baby was drawn by Bessie Pease Gutman, probably no later than the 20s, but that someone had decided to make an art project out of it, and so they cut up the print and made it into their own interpretation. At least, I am not so creeped out now.....But I don't need a sibling.......and mine was way cheaper!!!

This was a repro, but still, a pink airplane, all chromed out?

70s here. Green hanging light, rock crystals still intact. You would need just the perfect place, but it is still a dust catcher....don't miss the sunburst clock below that. How many people did you know who had something like that?

I really like these paper and chrome pendant lights. But I had no place to use them Original.Reasonable price, too.

I had forgotten about these. Venus Paradise coloring pencils. Before even paint by number. I still remember going to Rudy's to buy a #5 Pencil, which was red. They have my favorite color #13, ultramarine blue. My masterpieces are for sale in some flea market like this, somewhere. As far as this "color selector" -- what on earth would I do with that?

At home again, the roses were --- I can't remember they ever looked this good !!

And the clematis...wow......

This is a picture of my purchases from the flea market. 5 tin film canisters. 3 aluminum i-don't-know-whats, but would look great 3 in a row on a wall with its art deco style, an exit sign for only $5, the tin ceiling panel underneath it all, and the best of the day, the covered wagon, with cactus wheels-- a wild west trinket, that had a little light inside the covered wagon !!! Great!!

After Sam got off work, we went out to dinner to Mizuna, his favorite restaurant, to celebrate his birthday. Here are the 3 choices of butter - (left to riight) plain, herbed and salted. I like the salted the best.

This was my first try at quail. It was heavenly wonderful. The waitress felt that it was served in a compromised position. LOL. You decide.......

And here is Sam. We had a great dinner, and alot of fun. I edited out the little birthday candle and tiny chocolate cookies from this picture. Take my word, they were really good, like the rest of the dinner.
