It Was Pure Hail, Man !!!

These photos don't do it justice. But, I wouldn't try to take a picture while driving last night. Lightening lit up the sky, in all corners. It covered the sky, and hovered and lasted and lasted. By the time I reached home, the thunder was so loud it keep shaking the house. One thunder clap right after the other, almost without relief. Torrential rain just pouring down. And then the telltale ping, ping, ping --- the sound only hail can make as it hits metal or glass and resonates. First a couple, and more and more and louder and louder, til it was almost deafening.. It didn't seem like it would ever end. the lightening continued on. Finally, all of a sudden it let up. Gone. At some point, I opened the front door and surveyed this sight of hail. I heard that about 30 miles away, there were places with 7 inches of hail on the ground -- so much that they had to get out the snow plows to clear the streets. Sam said the hail was coming down so hard, he thought his windshield would explode. Above: here is the paltry amount of hail at my house Below: this is the leaf damage that the hail ripped off Not as dramatic as 7 inches of hail on the ground or dramatic lightening scenes in the sky, or a decimated vegetable garden. Sorry-- I did my best, LOL..............
