As originally typed in this cyber cafe on July 22:

"unfortunately, there will be no fotos along with this entry. i havent been able to sort out the foto-upload problem since there is no mobile option for the pics, and i am at a cyber cafe in kpalime, togo that i cannot connect my camera to.

i have tons of wonderful, interesting, and different fotos from my continuing time here in Togo. i guess they will have to wait until i am home and can upload them then. Suffice it to say, i am alive, and well, and having an incredible experience that i would love to share with you as i can. it is sweat hot, very humid, and presently pouring here. a goat is running in the street. i am tyzping on a 10 year old computer at the czber cafe that has the y key in the wrong place. last time we came here, the power was out. i had to wait an hour for one of the free computers today.

many of todays fotos swim thru my head, and i wish i could just post them up. the colors, the fabrics, the people, the scenery. oh well..............til next time, and who knows when that will be..........."

As you all know, I have been going back through my photos of my Africa trip and making the posts for each of the days on the trip. We finally got to the cyber cafe, and waited for the free computers. It looks quite "normal" but it was quite dark, hot and stuffy in there. It was the first time for many of us to communicate with others in the US since we had left almost 2 weeks before.

The top photo is the view out the front door of the cyber cafe (there was nothing cafe about the place, actually). The streets were muddy from the rain and the cement blocks were stacked to build a wall right nearby.

Below: Laura is thinking about what to tell her parents in her email about the trip so far.

Cassie was able to get one of the other computers.........Notice that the fan is NOT on in front of her. They didn't want to make this too comfortable an experience. I didn't get pics of Gavin, Emily or John, who were lurking on the slow machines somewhere in the dark corners.

This is a view out the back window. It was that dark inside, and that light outside. What do you want for 200 CFA ?
