Road Trippin' to Ohio: Jenna Does the Prairie Dog Zoo, Somewhere in Kansas

The roadside signs boasted the world's largest prairie dog, 5 and 6 legged cows, coyotes, rattlesnakes, foxes, raccoons and a whole lot more. When I road tripped with Adam several years back, he never wanted to stop anywhere, no less a place like this. Jenna was more than game. The place was surreal and not your usual zoo., I don't know how the lady ticket-taker got up each morning and looked forward to her job. Shown here is Jenna with Billy the Goat.. Jenna decided to take this picture when we were clowinng around.

It wasn't until we left, that we realized that this statue represented the world's largest prairie dog, cause it certainly amongst the living animals we saw.......

This "zoo" is enclosed by fencing. The light yellow blotches seen in the photo below are dried corn thrown by the prairie dog holes to entice them out. Some of them were on top of their "holes", some cruising around the zoo. I've never been out amongst the "dogs". Fancy looking zoo, isn't it? Actually, it was quite pathetic and so very run down.......

Here is the rattlesnake pen. Most of the snakes were coiled up as you can see, and there was one that was slithering around. No rattling going on here, but then I didn't try to stick my hand in there, either.......

I think this is the 5 legged cow. You can see the 5th leg sorta coming off where the shoulder is with all those nails or hooves or whatever it is.Then again, maybe that's an extra leg in the back there. I got a picture of a 4+ legged cow, but it was hard to really see the extra leg against the hide. We were wondering how this "zoo" actually acquired these specimens, anyway...............

I didn't get a picture of the potbelly pigs, or the racoon, the buffalo, the jackalope, the coyotes, the mule, the albino peacock, the very large rabbit or some of the birds. Or the gift shop. But here is one last picture, of 2 foxes. It did not appear that they had a zookeeper. As we left, we spotted a sign that the zoo was for sale......
