NannaX wow! i really love the b/w effect on the 2nd pic, because it makes me remember my daddy's old school pics and i can feel on this pic endurance and peace.

????? A startlingly different visual effect Kate, and i can see why you made this post...
You know, today I went to a specific tree in certain weather conditions to try to spot a buzzard that often shelters there...
well, the buzzard wasn't there today but I captured (on camera) a crow departing from a nearby tree, and was just about to walk off.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something in the neighbouring tree that was almost camouflaged, but just enough to make me really look....It was a grey squirrel and had been watching me for some time. I started taking shots but it had such a good eye on me that I needed to edge around and a little closer to get a good angle and view. After a while it relaxed and Let me take some good profile pictures of it. Imagine my joy about 10 minutes later when it moved from it's tree to the tree next to me and I got a fairly good sequence of the squirrel coming towards me...I still haven't had time to view these shots on the computer yet, but hope for something a little special...
The point is that I very nearly missed seeing the squirrel altogether, but it was definately keeping it's eye on me...so I went out with the intention of observing and engaging with nature and realised that it was nature that was observing me. The engagement only became reality in a two way proccess. We often think that man's purpose is to witness the world and events around us, but My God how wrong that is...Nature is the witness to man. Yes, I understand your blog today and thank you for it :-)

miltonjacob gr8 post. both have their own wonderful effects. and the title enquires me: who are you, a wise man or....?
miltonjacob · 2009-08-29: 06:41
????? I really like these. The roots look like little bodies wrapping themselves around the trunk - for me, the BW version is best. Great shot.

Unchained Both are great! I like the colours of nature in shot 1 and in shot 2 the contrasts are more accentuated.

????? Well, I do prefer to see the whole forest... Because some times a unique tree prevents us from seeing the forest.
