Kandahar - Kabul - End of the trip

2007.01.29

Photo No 6 Kabul - No 18 Buddha exhibited at Kabul's museum, confiscated at the customs. Antics were not allowed to be exported out of the country. Unfortunately the Talibans have blowned it all a few years ago, at the same time as the Big Buddha in Bamiyan.

End of an amazing experience and discovery of a very different culture.

The people I met earned my respect and I was deeply saddened to hear about the invasions, successively by the Russian, Talibans and finally the war with the allies

iustinium I am amazed at how you capture the scene so well, that I almost feel as if I am actually there. Your style has a National Geographic feel to it. Your photographs widen our knowledge, our views, and tell stories of cultures on the other side of the earth.

carmitage If only I had a better camera at that time !... All my money went into the travel itself. It was difficult to take pictures of people most of the time and I had to be discrete. What you are missing...is the smells ! Thank you for your kind comment

Remco I absolutely love these pictures. Very well done. I can nag you with compositions, light, crooked horizons and other technical stuff, but you captured the people living in a place that has been in war for over 25 years. And that is what photography is about. thank you for letting me see a glance of this country and its people.
