I went to the park near my home on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. While walking about, I heard familiar, traditional-sounding music. Eventually I managed to mentally put it together that while I was in a park in China, the music I was hearing was distinctly Japanese.
I wandered toward the noise and found that the rollerskating rink had been taken over by a troupe of Japanese dancers who were grabbing random Chinese spectators and drawing them into the action. It was very unexpected, and incredibly cheerful and peaceful.
The dancers turned out to be part of a group from Japan who have been traveling around China, dancing in parks. Very diplomatic of them.
