found roll 1, from around chinese new year

2011.06.01
pixel
Our neighborhood train ticket office.
pixel
Our neighborhood propane man. Actually, not all that true - I've never seen this fella before, and I don't know if that's propane. He's probably supplying a nearby restaurant.
pixel
Clearly, this was not taken in June. This must be sometime in February, and looking at that traffic, it was probably nearing up on 5 pm.
pixel
This motorcycle is usually parked near where I get off the bus. I particularly like the helmet, which has so much masking tape on the visor that no one bothers to steal it off the bike.
pixel
I'm a big fan of this old-school sign board.
pixel
Phone booth-tree hybrid.
pixel
More dog love. I think I may like shooting Beijingers with their dogs because it immediately makes people soften up. I think they find it funny that someone would be interested in their dog wearing clothes, or shoes, or being pushed around in a stroller.
pixel
An old man suns himself on an overpass.
pixel
I don't really understand where anyone in Beijing has room to put a bear of this size.
pixel
More overpass sniping.
pixel
A very typical building.
pixel
An entirely atypical building. This is next to Taoranting Park, and I think it belongs to a nearby hotel. This little sector is all abandoned and strange.
pixel
Did I mention strange? Very strange. I did not go in the boot, as I do not want to know who might be squatting in there.
pixel
The Beijing drought has had a horrible impact on the capital's plastic aquatic life.
pixel
It's quarter-to-four, thwarting efforts to go to a 'temple fair' at the park.
pixel
These guys made it in time. I was mad jealous.
pixel
More unused phones. I'm a big fan of the sandstorm shields.
pixel
Perhaps this charming, brand new pinwheel stuck on a relatively narsty sanlunche would have rendered better on color film.
pixel
Xian Hong Tan Stadium. And Eagle.
pixel
One of the thingies on the path to Yongdingmen Gate, the purpose of which currently escapes me.
pixel
The vendors were really sure I wanted to buy one of these kites.
pixel
Enlarge photo to see look of sheer delight on kiddo's face as kite takes off. It's a look to make a kite vendor proud.
pixel
An chart with acupuncture points in the window of a place that I'm pretty sure is scamming people with traditional Chinese medicine treatments for things like weight loss or hair rejuvenation.
pixel
And just around the corner, the local fireworks vendor. This was Chinese New Year, mind. Mercifully, this stand is not on the corner year round.
pixel
Pots for cookin' shuanyangrou - boiled mutton, basically. A Beijing specialty.
pixel
See what I mean about people being happy when their dogs are photographed? This lady was psyched.
pixel
Creepy winter trees.
pixel
More evidence that this was around Chinese New Year. Lots of luggage.
pixel
Neighborhood mascot in a rare, wakeful moment.
pixel
I tend to stick my arm out to hail cabs without looking in every possible direction first, and I'm pretty sure one of these days one of these pedicabs is going to whip up behind me and take my arm clean off.
pixel
I absolutely thought I'd uploaded these, but I can't seem to find them, so here are some very dusty black and white scans of a couple rolls shot this winter.
