2011-12-31 The Bridges Birthday 1811-2011
2011.12.31
It's New Years Eve - the last day of 2011. Today we had a little bit of bubbly for our little bridge that was 200 years old in 2011!! (maybe a bit late in the year but its definitely 200 years now!) This bridge is the first fly-over in Ireland!! It's a dry bridge so you drive under the bridge, swing around a tight loop and drive over the top! (I drive over this bridge hundreds and hundreds of times a year!!) Thank you little bridge!! And thank you 2011!!
Once in a while in our dear Isle
I’ve met with structures rare
But the strangest yet that I have met
Is the bridge at Annmount there.
Here friends may cross in broad daylight,
Yet crossing never meet.
Yet here again at other times
May thrice in crossing greet.
Here too the rich most oft look up
To the poorest that may greet him.
Or a begger pass, and prince ignore
As being too far beneath him..
