Kopitiam fare

2008.02.03
Kopitiam (coffee shop) is a portmanteau of the Malay word for coffee (as borrowed and altered from the Portuguese) and the Hokkien dialect word for shop (店; POJ: tiàm).

This is a new kopitiam which are reminiscent of the old kopitiams in terms of decor, but are usually built in a more modern, hygienic setting offering the usual kopitiam fare such as noodles, nasi lemak and the favourite toast with home made kaya.
