Chinese New Year celebration actually starts on the eve with the reunion dinner. Close family members (not including married daughters and their families) get together for the "reunion" dinner; normally at home. This year, I will be having the dinner at a restaurant.

Another tradition on the eve night:
- Open every door and window in your home at midnight to let go of the old year.
- there's actually more but nowadays not all Chinese follow all the traditions.
