The main square of Jie Fan Bei district. There were an outrageous amount of people. Near here we found a Pizza Hut and dined there. It was very good to taste cheese again. Also very expensive compared to what we are used to paying for food in Tongzi, but not unreasonable when compared to 'back home' prices.

There were a few nice bits of greenery scattered through the city. We checked out this area, climbed all 11 storeys to the Subway at the top for lunch. It was nice.
Also, don't harp on us for eating so much American food. We get authentic Chinese cuisine day in and day out where we live, so it was quite nice to have something different. Especially since 'something different' entailed cheese. |
Part of the skyline. As far as the eye can see (which isn't very far...), in every direction, the city is jam packed with high-rises. Walking down most sidewalks was a task worse than navigating the halls of the U of C between lectures, it was brutal. It is a relief to be back in the relaxed, relatively unpopulated streets of Tongzi.

To get away from some of the crowds, we walked down to the waterfront and hiked along one of Chongqing's rivers. There were people fishing, and there was quite a bit of garbage. I don't think they were fishing for leisure :S

After walking some more, we came upon a market. This picture is from one of the meat vendors. Pretty standard fare, but uncommon sights to a Canadian eye. Fresh pig face, anyone?
