5 quaint little villages tucked away in the mountains. Train to the western-most, and biggest, village, Monterosso (1-6). After some aimless wandering in the village, we hiked - yes, hiked! - for 2 hours to the next village, Vanezza. Only later do we check the guidebook and find that it's the most difficult route. Great scenery along the way, though (7-16). I liked it, hiking, scenery and all. At last, Vanezza comes into sight (17). I preferred it to Monterosso, from the layout (18) to the children playing football in the streets (19). And finally, in no mood to hike for another 2 hours, we take the train to the next village Corniglia (20), and from there, back to our base in Florence. Didn't get the chance to see the other 2, unfortunately. But Vanezza is leaving nice imprints on my synapses.
