Norway through a window

2007.05.22
Waiting for the bus near Førde

Same location, the other direction

Got on the bus, but got out the camera too late.

This and the following few: Førde to Flekke

Methinks that has to be some famous mountain. It&#39s awe-inspiring.

This and the following few were taken en route from Flekke to Bergen.

The Oslo-Bergen train line is said to be the most scenic in the world.

None of these do justice to the place. You have to BE there.

I flew from Oslo to Førde in a tiny plane. The advantage of that was, of course, that little planes can't fly too high, so you get a wonderful view of the land, and, in this case, the fjords. Unfortunately I was too busy admiring the view that I forgot to take pictures, even of the little plane after I'd landed. Nevermind. They're right up here in my head, which is the safest place they could be.

Also, the gloomy weather can't be helped. Apparently it rains almost all the time in the western part of Norway, and there was a 78-day period of non-stop rain in the past year. Imagine that. But of course, rain in Europe is seldom the same kind of rain we get at home.

By-the-bye, you're getting a largely one-sided view from the Bergen-Oslo train, because tragedy struck and all the pictures taken using CS's camera have been lost. Including pictures from Bergen as well as the next few days in Oslo and Amsterdam...
