Mixed doubles: world champions Emms/Robertson (England) fell to China's Gao/Zheng. To tell the truth, I wasn't paying very much attention to this match. Look who's playing in the other court: our 'lao jiang', Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah. Turned out to be the only Malaysians to win that day. Hmph.

On the other side of the stadium, everyone was cheering for India's Anup Sridhar, who was playing against Lin Dan. I was part of the 'everyone'. Hah.

After Peter's loss to Sony, he stood (then sat) by the stands talking to his coach (?) for ages.

Malaysia's darling, Wong Mew Choo. Despite Ms Wong's upset of world #1 Xie Xinfang, I have to say Zhu Lin deservedly won this match. The boos Zhu Lin got from the audience were awfully embarrassing, though.

And the most-awaited match of all, Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong vs ... anyone. I think people just wanted to see them in action. Unfortunately, they had to go and lose to some (relatively) unknown Japanese pair. Another loss to the Indon in the Rexy Manaiky-Park Joo-Bong score.

Couldn't get a clear shot of the guy, but apparently he shows up at many badminton meets all decked out in the Malaysian flag, complete with kompang, a good pair of lungs, and some followers to help out with the shouting. Didn't manage to get Luck onto our side, though.

Barely anyone was paying any attention to the other court. And all the photographers were having a hard time, having to focus first on the Japanese, then on the Malaysians, then back on the Japanese again...

Yes, I was there! Unfortunately a win to commemorate our 50th birthday failed to materialise in the end.
I say, it's lucky I went to see the q-finals instead of the semis or the finals. Otherwise I'd have missed all the Malaysians in action.
