My trusty memory card, which has accompanied me for almost two years on sojourns halfway across the globe, got stuck in my new HP laptop. I left it there, hoping to get the laptop manual from home that could tell me how to get the card out out without damaging the reader slot. Apparently manuals nowadays overestimate the intelligence of users such as yours truly.
