I live in Singapore and lighning is very common in this part of the world. We get very loud thunder at times too.

I reached home after home this evening and saw lightning in the sky. Quickly grabbed my camera and shot some photos from my bedroom.
As I could hear no thunder, the lightning must had been quite a distance away, probably in the tens or even hundreds of kilometres away.
