Flyfishing

2008.01.24
My workshop where I ty my flies, sorry, where I did ty my flies. This is from the old house, we purchased a newer and bigger house last september, dont have this workshop anymore but gonna build one in the new house, after this model:-)

10 lbs Pollack, summer 2005..

Saithe and reel

5 lbs Seatrout, from the river Aurland

Also river Aurland, 6-7 lbs Seatrout, flyfishing at night

Peacock Bass, Singapore 2005

Peacock Bass, Singapore 2007

Hooked a Pollack, wow this is fun

There it is, nice 6 lbs Pollack

Casting my fly in the river Aurland, 2 hours earlier i hooked and faught a giant Seatrout for 120 minutes on the same rod at this spot. It was estimated by the people who where standing besides me , to be about 24-27 lbs...

Nice Brownie on light gear..

A small rainbow, this is just outside Coopenhagen, Denmark

Wonderful Salmon, not the biggest ones, about 12 lbs, but wow it is a beautiful fish

Small 5 lbs Salmon

Also two small Salmons, 7 lbs and 4 lbs

Me and my friend Nils s gear, the four from left are my Burkheimers. This is our gear for flyfishing after Seatrout in the river Aurland.

10 lbs Saithe, september 2004

27 lbs Cod, yes on fly, september 2004. same trip/day as the photo above.

I was searching in my files after some fishingshots this evening, and found some. As you may know flyfishing is one of my passions, but not only rivers and lakes, I also loves saltwaterflyfishing. Experimenting a lot in the sea with my flyrod. My fave is dryflyfishing after seatrouts in the rivers... many of the shots are taken by me with tripod and timed release, but a few is taken by my fishingbuddys. This is also a tribute to my friend Mat(MHJphotos), and all the other flyfishers here. In a while I will add a post with my flytying..

Chris

aknor Man...these are beautiful fish - love the variety!! Looks like you've had some great fishing trips. Can't believe the size of some of those fish you caught on such light gear!! Thanks for sharing!
aknor · 2008-01-24: 17:09
DancingDolphin WOW these are some impressive photos! Thanks for sharing. When my husband died, I briefly took up fly fishing of all things! Tying flies turned out to be my favorite thing.... but I flunked out of "class" when I added purple and silver to my wooley buggers!
DancingDolphin · 2008-01-24: 17:12

angeldevil1980 very impressed!! great set of photos - my dad loves fishing - it is great sport!!
angeldevil1980 · 2008-01-24: 21:26
MHJphotos Chris, these are wonderful shots! You have taken a vast array of quarry on a fly ... very impressive! Thanks for the nice tribute ... we flyfishers have to stick together!

I agree that dry fly fishing for trout may just be the ultimate experience on very light gear, but alas, it makes no difference to me what I'm using, or what I'm catching! The enjoyment for me comes from being in nature and attempting to fool a wild creature with fur and feather!

Well done my friend!

Mat

jetjackson You have done well, my friend, with your catches and your fly tying. Tying flies is an art in itself,,,,,,something I have not done, and don't think I have the patience to do. Thanks for sharing :))
jetjackson · 2008-01-25: 00:00
chrisfly Thanks for your nice comments friends! Fishing and flyfishing have been one of my greatest passions in life, also flyrying and rodbuilding. And to answer Amber, "catch and release" or "cook`em up"? Well, I`m both actually, when the nature gives its permission and the fish have a good size I take the fish(I love cooking, and especially fish and seafood, it is specail to prepare a wonderful wild and fresh Trout tha you have fished yourself, rather then buy a frozen filet on a supermarket, a huge different ), but in some rivers we have baglimits, and if the stock is threatened in the river of course I release them. I`m becoming more and more a "catch and release" man. I share your philosofy Mat, I`m not so much engaged by the carches anymore, for me the ultimate is the trip, the nature, the sosial thing with my friends, and the catch is just a bonus:-)
