Luckily, the rain let up today allowing me to take a stroll up my avenue, which is one of my favorite activities. Most people in my neighborhood must have been holed up inside for the last two days because the street and stores were seriously crowded. Even though it was freezing outside and still a little wet, people didn't seem to mind as they bundled up in their Northface jackets and jostled each other to get to the Sunday free cheese samples in the local grocery store. I stopped to take a picture of the mural I always pass on my walk, which inspired me to google it when I returned home. Turns out it is called the Key Route Plaza Mural, for a Bay Area transit line that ran through San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley until the car made it obsolete in the late 1950s. Hmmm, everytime I passed it I wondered what the artist's message was...anti-war, celebrating diversity in the East Bay, anti-oil? Who knew there was a transit system worthy of celebration via a mural? Gotta love that google.
