Day 23 Signs

2008.01.24

I like to believe in signs. Maybe some scientific folk will think signs are hogwash. However, throughout my life on rare, special occasions when I have needed extra support, encouragement, direction, or just plain cheering up it seems that out of nowhere the most perfect thing will happen at exactly the precise moment and things are beautifully clear.

I have always believed in taking signs for what they are, and being happy that the universe and I are communicating clearly with each other for a brief moment when they occur.

I guess I have been feeling overwhelmed by my brother's graduation ceremony tomorrow. Because today when it came time to draw a family diagram in one of my classes, I just couldn't bring myself to put an X in my brother’s box to mark him deceased. I walked out of class ready to cry, but outside waiting for me was a full rainbow spread across the sky. This is only the second time in my life I've ever seen a full rainbow so it felt like a special moment. It only lasted for a minute (not even long enough for me to get a good shot).

I'm taking my rainbow sighting as a sign...tomorrow is not going to be a sad day, it's going to be a special, happy day for my brother.
