Day 97 Kids Create

2008.04.07

Some green-thumbed kids planted these springy tulips in front of the tile mural at the entrance of my elementary school. My school's motto is Pay-It-Forward and the kids are always doing service work and fundraisers for various charities (Juvenile Diabetes, Leukemia, Cleft-Palate Reconstruction).

My focus at school is working with children with Autism and I have this amazing group of fifth graders from general ed classes who give up a lunch period each week to help my kids with special needs play during recess. It's wonderful to see children who are intrinsically motivated to help others and do good. Kids like this put a smile on my face.

DancingDolphin Sounds like a great place to work. I'm very impressed with kids that young getting involved with someone other than themselves, it will serve them well!
