Six years ago today, I had one of the greatest experiences of my life by being in the delivery room when little Beaker came into this world. From her tap-dancing abilities to artistic talents, she’s a pretty amazing kid.
There are too many wonderful things to list so I am just going to list three of my favorite things about my favorite little girl:
1. She’s so irresistibly cute and sweet that it’s impossible to resist her charm. For example, one day she convinced my tough, sporty husband to play princess dress-up with shoes, tiaras, dresses, and jewelry for an hour and a half. He didn’t seem to notice how long he was playing until my sister and I pointed it out to him.
2. She’s tough. I was worried because when she was born she cried for eight hours straight (and it was LOUD). My sister, her husband, and I kept looking at each other with concerned faces that said, “Is this baby ever going to stop?” But she hasn’t cried all that much since. As she likes to tell it, she didn’t cry, “Even when I got five shots. I didn’t make a peep, not a peep. That’s hardcore.”
3. Something about sitting down to read a book with her or tucking her into bed and looking into her hazel eyes that happen to look just like mine, makes me melt and feel happy and good inside, especially when she gives me her sweet smile or a giggle or a hug. That’s got to be a super-special magical fairy power or something else very wonderful just like magic.
Happy 6th Birthday, Beaker! I love you very much!
