Day 134 City Scenes

This is the view from outside of our apartment in Oakland tonight. As I walked up the street to go get a some groceries I thought about what a BIG shift we are making by buying this new place because we are moving out to the suburbs.

I've lived in a city the last 12 years, but something in me has been wanting to move somewhere with lots of trees and quiet hills and less concrete and noise for a while now. I realize I will probably miss quite a bit about the city (like being within walking distance to a burrito at all times), but there is a lot I am looking forward to about moving to place where I get up in the morning and hear birds instead of sirens. Not that sirens are bad, there is a part of me that appreciates the realness of life in a city, but I guess I'm ready for a little peace and serenity in my life.

Anyway, still VERY excited and downright happy about the house.
