Bad to the Bone

2008.05.17
I went to Karaoke at Daiquiri Cafe last night.
This guy is one of the most talented regulars.

"Lemme tell ya honey
That I'm bad to the bone!"

The host of Karaoke night recognized me at the Blues Festival a couple of weekends ago.

Picture in focus! Singing actually not too bad on this number.

My camera's "night portrait" setting makes for some surreal double exposures

Lots of singers bring their drink onstage for moral support.

Good rendition of Folsom Prison Blues by this guy. Guitar playing all of the "air" variety.

That's your truly waiting to start my rendition of the Beatles tune, I Will. The spotlight makes it look like they were distributing yellow shirts to jaundiced singers.

These guys provided the highlight of the night - a great version of Man of Constant Sorrow from O Brother, Where Art Thou?

A pretty good picture of a rough rendition of the Nat King Cole classic Mona Lisa. A very loud accompaniment didn't help.

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

Strawberry Wine, Deanna Carter

Some of the other performers were almost literally "bad to the bone". I will shudder the next time I hear Strawberry Wine at the memory of last night's performance by a couple of young women.
