Post-Inaugural Lull

2008.01.14
All's quiet at the Louisiana State Capitol as the inauguration of new Governor Bobby Jindal has moved on to lunch at the River Center.

Former Governor Huey Long overesees the dismantling of the temporary stage and seating used for the inauguration.

The base of Long's status includes a bas relief of Long, the people of Louisiana, and the State Capitol building that has become a symbol of his leadership.

Flags were out in force for the inauguration

I felt so helpless, what could I do?
Remembering all the things we'd been through
In school they all stop and stare
I can't hide the tears, but I don't care
I'll never forget him (the leader of the pack).

I work in downtown Baton Rouge but couldn't get out for the inauguration itself. If the weather is any harbinger, Governor Jindal will have a successful term. I walked to the site and took these pictures after the party had moved on.
