Signs of the Times

2008.05.02
City Year is an Americorps program. We often see their yellowjacketed young people downtown.

Drawn by the City Year's teenage clients

Talk about on-theme...not content with a outside wall sign, The Roux House installed a new marquis-style sign above their restaurant.

By enlarging this you may be able to read this sign's story of the Old State Capitol fence restoration.

Here's an unrestored section of the fence.

Carved into the concrete is the sign Irene W. Pennington Planetarium. The Penningtons are among the richest families in Baton Rouge.

Getting away from the sign theme, these light poles looked in daylight like an army of helmeted robots.

The six flags ride again.

Again off-theme, but I liked the way the railroad track curved around the building and into the horizon.

You may remember this sign from an earlier post. With the river level down slightly, the message is a little clearer.

Give me an "E"!

Is it silly, no?
When a rocket blows and.. and everybody still wants 2 fly
Some say a man ain't happy truly until a man truly dies
Oh why, oh why?
Sign "O" the times

Sign O' The Times, Prince

The song title fits the theme better than the lyrics, but the song is from one of my favorite Prince albums.

New signs keep appearing in downtown Baton Rouge.
