Blackened Cajun Mayo

2008.06.04

My daughter and I are puzzled by Burger King's promotion of their use of "blackened Cajun mayo" in the new "Indy Double Whopper".

As a cooking technique, blackening usually means that a substance (fish, chicken, beef) is coated with pepper and seared on a very hot surface. How this could be done with mayonnaise is a real mystery.

Another mystery is how Indiana Jones has anything to do with Cajun culture.

Marketing is so much fun!
