The Fourth in Boston - Day 28

2008.07.04
We started with lunch at Regina Pizzeria in the North End--highly recommended by all.

What luck! The Red Sox World Series trophy (or a replica thereof) was in the restaurant at the same time as us. We didn't press to get a picture taken with the trophy.

A heartrending statue at the Irish Famine Memorial in downtown Boston.

A brief history of the famine

This dance/gymnastics troup entertained in front of Faneuil Hall.

The so-called "Leap of Death"

Breakdancing (all photo credits in this segment to Kallie)

A t-shirt in every color but Celtic green--they must have sold out.

Flag reflection

Statue of Arthur Fiedler, legendary conductor of the Boston Pops.

As predicted there were many boats in the Charles River for the Fourth.

As close as we could get to the Hatch Shell where the Pops were playing--we heard the concert over a loudspeaker. (photo credit to Kallie)

Sunset across the Charles

A Navy flyover helped kick off the festivities. Thanks for flying right past my lens.

New England play on the American flag motif

Another sunset shot - this time through the trees

Hatch Shell reflected on the canal in Esplanade Park

As promised, pastel fireworks!

This one made me think of the Death Eaters in Harry Potter.

Sometimes looking like something out of a planetarium.

We spent July 4 in Boston, ending up in Esplanade Park for the Boston Pops July 4th Fireworks Spectacular.
