Boston at Wimbledon - Day 30

2008.07.06
Priceless stained glass at Arlington Street Church, Unitarian Univeralist

Pipe organ in back of same church. The organist was on vacation, so we heard the grand piano from the front of the church.

Arlington Street Church balcony - there are a total of about 15 elaborate stained glass windows dating back to the 19th century.

Statue of Rev. William Ellery Channing, one of the founders of American Unitarianism, who served the Arlington Street Church for almost 40 years.

JFK Library and Museum building designed by famed architect I. M. Pei

JFK to RFK for a first down

Campaign memorabilia, circa 1960

We know who won. Running as a sitting vice president hasn't often been successful.

Presidential scribbling - the yellow pad is from a meeting about the Cuban Missile Crisis. On the right is a brief hand note by RFK from the same time.

A famous backshot of President Kennedy and Attorney General Kennedy conferring

The Kennedy clan during Joseph Kennedy's time as U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain. Bonus points if you can name all nine children.

Another piece of the Berlin Wall, given by the German people to the Kennedy Museum

While we waited for the train, we had a great view of planes landing at Logan Airport.

This sign had no trouble convincing me.

Dogs relaxing on a subway ride made us miss our Rascal and Razzberry.

Quintessential scene of city highrise life in Boston's North End.

We wrapped a day of church and sightseeing in Boston around TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. We watched the first game in the hotel room, missed the next two and a part sets while going to church, watched the fourth set while eating lunch, and sweated out the result in absentia while visting the JFK Library and Museum. The girls were happy to learn that Rafa prevailed in five grueling sets. We prevailed in our six-day sightseeing blitz of the Boston area.
