Almost 300 miles away, here's Apartment 108 in Houston.

It's nice to have a big screen TV and DVD player, especially with the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday.

You can probably guess who sits here.

The kitchen is small but has all the requisite appliances - except a dishwasher, but we have very few dishes. We've eaten two breakfasts in so far.

Kay's already taken over the dining room table as her office.

The bed is surprisingly comfy.

Bathroom in good working order except for the shower head, which they promise to fix.

The apartment complex has a nice courtyard that we'll use more when the weather warms up.

It's a beautiful clear but cool day in Houston - cool by Houston standards, anyway.

Out and about in Houston. This is Katz's Deli, a 24-hour restaurant that saved us on an earlier trip when I got out of the medical office after midnight. Crossing busy Westheimer Rd. to go from the parking lot to the front door is an exercise in courage. Houstonians have no idea how to yield for pedestrians.

Inside Katz's - the motif resembles a New York City subway platform.

Photographs of New York adorn the walls, though I believe the owners were born and raised in Texas.

Most of all, we miss Kallie, who is at home with her grandparents.
|
Here's my last look at our house in Baton Rouge, and your first look at our new apartment in Houston, TX, where I'll be staying for the next six weeks while I receive treatment.
