The Sarira Pagoda of Kaiyuan Temple

Very near Elephant Trunk Hill Park.
Kaiyuan Temple was firstly built in 567,AD. Tang Dynasty.
The Sarira Pagoda was used for preserving Buddhist Relics.

Sarira is a loanword from Sanskrit,Originally means "body".Sarira are crystal bead-like relics believed to be found in the cremation ashes of some highly enlightened Buddhist monks.

The Sarira Pagoda was rebuilt in 1385,AD. Ming Dynasty.Kaiyuan Temple was damaged during the War of Resistance Against Japan,only the Sarira Pagoda remained the same.
